Position Summary

The Counseling Department is inviting applications for adjunct faculty for its online programs. The online programs of the Counseling Department are an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health, an M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy, an M.A. in Human Services, and an M.Ed. in Professional School Counseling. Adjunct faculty are hired in a part-time capacity on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the University.

HBU accepts application material year-round from qualified applicants willing to teach on a part-time basis. Adjunct (part-time) faculty hiring is based on student demand. We offer day and evening classes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Actively seeks to incorporate Christian faith into his or her role as an adjunct faculty.
  • Implements a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
  • Provides timely, quality access and feedback to students via electronic communication and other appropriate methods.
  • Evaluates students by a variety of means to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and informs them in a timely manner of their progress.
  • Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
  • Submits grades, paperwork, and forms in a timely fashion.
  • Performs other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • A doctoral degree in Counselor Education is preferred, but a doctoral degree in a related field (psychology, marriage and family therapy, etc.) will be seriously considered.
  • Candidates should be a licensed mental health professional (LPC, LMFT, or LP) or a certified School Counselor.
  • Previous college or university teaching experience preferred.
