We are seeking temporary, part-time instructors with a physics or astronomy background to teach Honors Physics:
Exploring the Universe – Composition and Evolution (Honors Introduction to Astronomy) within the Connect program. This course invites high school honors students to explore the universe—from the motion of celestial bodies and the physics of light to the life cycles of stars, structure of galaxies, and the evolving cosmos. Instructors will introduce students to the core physical principles underlying astronomical phenomena, emphasizing how scientists use observation, data analysis, and the scientific method to understand the universe.
Through a combination of interactive labs, simulations, and observational projects, instructors will guide students in developing analytical reasoning, quantitative skills, and conceptual understanding of physics as applied to astronomy. Instructors are expected to foster intellectual curiosity and support students in building a solid foundation for future study in physics, astronomy, and related STEM disciplines.
Spring Semester: Honors Physics:
Exploring the Universe – Composition and Evolution (Honors Introduction to Astronomy) Monday-Friday - 9:35 AM - 11:00 AM The NCSSM Connect program offers live, synchronous virtual courses taught by NCSSM faculty to students in their local high schools across North Carolina.
