Overview
Lead College Facilitator (GEAR UP) position at UC Santa Cruz. This role is based at one or more partner middle and/or high schools within the designated area and may involve travel. The position is hybrid with a remote day and onsite days.

- 55% - Program Development, Coordination, & Implementation:
Design and implement college access programming to K-12 students; provide leadership for the design and implementation of college preparation services and culture to a district, including training K-14 school district faculty and staff; plan and organize district-wide or regional college-going events and activities; provide complex academic advising; develop customized student academic plans to ensure post-secondary admission eligibility. - 20% - Collaboration & Communication:
Develop partnerships/networks with K-12, higher education institutions, and community organizations; provide leadership in strategic and program planning; maintain up-to-date knowledge of K-12 and higher education policies and issues and disseminate information to school site and district personnel; organize meetings with school site personnel and service providers. - 25% - Supervision, Leadership, & Budget:
Manage program components, grant objectives, and activity budgets; assist with fundraising and proposal writing; assist in recruitment and hiring of professional, student, and/or temporary staff.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
- Comprehensive experience advising and supporting educationally disadvantaged students regarding postsecondary opportunities and careers
- Advanced knowledge of K-12 and higher education policies and issues; ability to assess their impact on program strategies
- Advanced knowledge and experience working with educational equity programs serving a diverse student population; demonstrated cultural competency with respect to race, ethnicity, and socio-economic status
- Advanced knowledge of K-12 and higher education institutions (UC, CSU, CC, etc.), admissions and financial aid and scholarship requirements, and matriculation processes
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with school district administrators, school counselors, principals, teachers, and community contacts; ability to develop outreach programs and design effective materials
- Advanced knowledge of high school graduation and college entrance requirements
- Knowledge of state and national education policies and current education theories
- High-level verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced knowledge of issues facing low-income, first generation youth
- Ability to interpret policies and procedures to youth, parents, and school representatives
- Ability to prioritize work assignments and manage multiple critical projects with deadlines; strong project management skills
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and supervisory skills
- Bilingual written and verbal (English/Spanish)
- Experience designing, implementing and monitoring academic/enrichment programs or events
- Selected candidate must pass pre-employment criminal history background check
- Selected candidate must pass the employment misconduct disclosure process
- Hybrid work schedule option; must be able to work from home/remote office and comply with UCSC telecommuting agreement
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
- Provide proof of negative TB test; may be required to take a TB test within 60 days of hire
- Ability to travel to multiple work locations on and off campus; travel within a defined regional or service area
- Maintain appearance and conduct suitable for a professional setting
- Complete training within established time frames as directed, including UC compliance training
- UC vaccination policy applies to all employees
- CANRA Mandatory Reporter: required to report known or suspected child abuse or neglect
