Job Description
  • Writing Consultants support Antioch students by providing constructive, supportive feedback on academic and professional writing.
  • Consultants work with students from a variety of disciplines and degree programs, assisting with writing projects at any stage of the process—from brainstorming and outlining to revision and final polishing.
  • Peer Consultants offer feedback through synchronous sessions on Zoom.
  • In addition to working directly with students, Peer Consultants collaborate with Writing Center staff to develop and facilitate virtual workshops on writing-related topics and participate in regular training and professional development to strengthen their own writing and tutoring skills.
  • Approximate Hours Per Week (6–10 hours total):
  • 5–7 hours providing one-on-one writing support through synchronous Zoom sessions.
  • 1–2 hours developing and facilitating virtual workshops.
  • 1–2 hours attending staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
  • 1 hour managing email communication and appointment logistics.
Qualifications
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Interest in supporting fellow students through collaborative, peer-to-peer learning.
  • Ability to provide constructive and encouraging feedback on a wide range of academic and professional writing.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment and managing a flexible schedule.
  • Experience with Zoom and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, etc.) or willingness to learn.
  • Commitment to attending regular trainings and participating in ongoing professional development.
