Department Overview:
Bayview features 130 apartments and townhouse units, providing affordable, dignified housing for up to 500 residents. The campus also features a stunning new neighborhood center that serves the entire neighborhood with programming in the following areas: food access; youth development and education; adult education and skill advancement; social work and resource navigation; senior meals and wellness; art and cultural programs.

Schedule:

The Teen Program Leader has an expected schedule of 15 hours per week. Pay rate starts at $17 per hour and is eligible for paid time off. Ideal candidates would be available M-F during program staff hours:

  • Mon & Fri: 2:15–6:15 PM
  • Tue, Wed, Thu: 3–7 PM

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:
Minimum: $17.00 Maximum: $19.00

Qualifications:
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with program participants and information
  • Possession of valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Skilled in supervising and facilitating lessons with children of various ages
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain positive relationships with children, families, and other staff
  • Ability to provide children with behavioral guidance and conflict resolution skills
  • First Aid/CPR certified or willing to learn
  • Understanding and appreciation of ethnically and culturally diverse populations
  • Maturity, positivity, and creativity
  • Bilingual in Hmong and/or Spanish is a plus
  • Flexibility to work some extended hours
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, and pass a criminal background check prior to hiring
Position Summary/

Job Duties:
  • Supervise children aged 11-18 throughout the after-school program and school lunch-clubs as needed
  • Ensure participant safety during activities and enforce program rules.
  • Maintain a clean and organized program space.
  • Plan/lead daily and weekly activities, including arts and crafts, sports, workshops, and community service.
  • Assist in developing and facilitating age-appropriate activities.
  • Assist with homework and provide tutoring support to help students achieve academic success.
  • Build positive relationships with all youth, acting as a mentor and role model.
  • Encourage participation and promote a culture of respect and inclusion.
  • Implement positive behavior support strategies.
  • Collaborate and communicate with program staff.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians and provide updates on progress.
  • Collaborate with community partners and schools.
  • Maintain records of attendance, activities, and incidents.
  • Assist in preparing program reports and evaluations.
  • Follow daily checklist to ensure supplies and spaces are clean and organized
  • Set up and take down equipment, tables and chairs, as needed and requested.
  • Assist with meal and snack preparation and serving.
  • Assist with other community center events and programs, such as the Elementary program, as needed.

Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
