Adjunct Instructor for PhD in Management Program

General ResponsibilitiesWayland Baptist University, a Christ-centered institution of higher education, is seeking a qualified adjunct instructor to teach doctoral courses in the following disciplines:
- Business
- Management
- Organizational Behavior
- Information Systems Management
- Human Resources
- Leadership
The ideal candidate will integrate academic excellence with a biblical worldview, equipping students to become ethical leaders who can positively impact organizations and society.
Specific Tasks and Duties- Teach assigned courses in Business, Management, Organizational Behavior, Human Resources, Information Systems Management in an online or hybrid format.
- Develop syllabi, course materials, assignments, and assessments aligned with departmental standards.
- Provide timely feedback, mentorship, and academic support to students.
- Incorporate faith-based perspectives into course content and discussions, demonstrating how Christian principles inform ethical business and management practices.
- Engage in regular communication with program leadership and adhere to academic policies.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, and performance.
Education: Terminal Degree of a PhD in Management, Organizational Behavior, Human Resources, Leadership, Business, DBA, Information System or related degree
Experience and Knowledge: Curriculum Vitae lists scholarly activities such as publishing, conference presentations, research experience.
Skills and AbilitiesRequired:
- Demonstrated ability to teach at the college or university level.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to the mission of a Christian university and to integrating faith into teaching and learning.
- Active involvement in a local Christian church.
- Information Systems professors should have either COMPTIA or similar certifications and experience related to Cyber Security/Security, Cloud Net, and/or Data.
Preferred:
- Experience teaching in online learning environments (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas).
- Professional experience in business, management, HR, or organizational leadership, and/or Information Systems.
- Cover letter describing teaching philosophy and alignment with Christian higher education.
- Unofficial transcripts of graduate and doctoral coursework (official transcripts required upon hire).
- Statement of Christian faith and church affiliation.
- Contact information for three professional references.
The work environment for this position is a standard office setting. Employees will work primarily at a home office/desk or workstation, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers. The office maintains a controlled temperature. Noise levels are generally moderate, with typical office sounds such as conversations and office machinery. Faculty may also use Blackboard Ultra Collaborate, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams to communicate with students.
Hoursof Work
Contractual. There is no guarantee for continual contracts. Normal work day is Monday through Friday. Adjunct faculty are expected to communicate office hours with students.
Physical Demands- Frequently stand and walk;
- Frequently flex upper trunk forward while sitting or standing;
- Frequently lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds;
- Frequently carry up to 10 pounds and occasionally carry up to 25 pounds;
- Occasionally push or pull objects;
- Occasionally flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially flex at the knees;
- Frequently reach at or below shoulder height, and occasionally reach above shoulder height.
This is a contractual position for the duration of the contract, which is normally eight‑week sessions. If selected, the prospective employee must present documentation within three (3) days of hire date to establish identity and employment eligibility as required by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record.
