Position Overview

Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) is building applicant pools for adjunct faculty to teach English Language Acquisition (ELA) courses throughout the 2025‑2026 academic year across all campuses, including Walla Walla, Clarkston, Washington State Penitentiary, Coyote Ridge Corrections Center, and online. Adjunct faculty positions are part‑time, temporary, and offer flexible hours to support adult students in adult education programs, dual‑credit, workplace learning, outreach, and enrichment courses.

Responsibilities

General responsibilities include:

  • Facilitate student learning through preparation and delivery of course materials.
  • Provide timely and meaningful feedback on assignments and exams.
  • Assign final grades and maintain student records.
  • Connect students to campus resources and support services.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Teach assigned classes at the scheduled time and location.
  • Demonstrate professional teaching skills.
  • Provide a comprehensive syllabus at the beginning of the quarter.
  • Provide clear explanations, assignments, and directions.
  • Conduct frequent student performance evaluations and give ongoing feedback.
  • Assign and submit grades according to the college grading policy.
  • Maintain student records and grades in the LMS.
  • Post and be available for at least one (1) office hour each week.
  • Maintain course outlines and syllabi to reflect program curriculum.
  • Review and recommend program textbooks, materials, and technology.
  • Utilize available technology appropriate to the teaching assignment.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in TESOL, Adult Education, Secondary Education, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related field (substitutions may be considered).
  • Minimum two years of teaching experience at the pre‑college or secondary level (or equivalent as a teaching assistant, adjunct, or community‑education instructor).
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting equitable access and achievement for diverse students.
  • For remote work, applicants must reside in WA, OR, , CA, IL, PA, or TX.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in TESOL, Adult Education, Education, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Career and College Readiness Standards for Adult Education.
  • Experience teaching in a community college or secondary setting.
  • Experience with instructional technology (LMS, digital whiteboards, Zoom, etc.).
  • Experience teaching across multiple modalities (in‑person, hybrid, blended, online).
  • Experience working with students from varied cultural, ethnic, gender, age, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds.
Conditions/Terms of Employment
  • Part‑time instruction contingent on enrollment; located at the Walla Walla Campus.
  • Must provide lawful employment documentation within three (3) days and transcripts.
  • Subject to a criminal history background check.
  • WCC is a tobacco‑free institution.

  • WWCC participates in E‑Verify and will provide information for the federal government to confirm work authorization.
Compensation

Compensation is contingent on enrollment and follows the adjunct salary schedule established by the WWCC Board of Trustees and the WWCC Association for Higher Education.
