Certified Nursing Assistant (Health Care Ancillaries) Instructor Applicant Pool

We are accepting applications for the Adjunct Certified Nursing Assistant (Health Care Ancillaries) Instructor Applicant Pool. Adjunct pools are open on a fiscal year basis for continuous recruitment for department assignments. Please review application material requirements carefully to ensure successful submission.

Teaching assignments may be at the Valencia or Canyon Country campus, or other college teaching locations. Part‑time faculty positions are as needed positions and do not accrue rights to tenure. They offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of students in achieving their educational goals. Responsibilities
  • Assume leadership roles within the department and at the institution; serve the needs of students, department, college and community; collaborate across disciplines and utilize student support resources; participate in committees and governance activities.
  • Participate in curriculum and program development.
  • Work collegially and collaboratively within the college community.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development.
  • Ability to create a dynamic learning environment that values instructor/student interaction.
  • Effectively engage with and facilitate authentic learning for students of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and experiences.
  • Adapt teaching pedagogy to individual and class knowledge; self‑reflect and respond to evidence‑based assessment of student learning.
  • Integrate new technologies into the learning process, including interactive technologies for on‑campus and online courses.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Qualifications and

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and at least two (2) years of full‑time experience as a licensed nurse, with at least one year in direct patient care in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility, home care, hospice care, or other long‑term care setting.

  • Active California Registered Nursing License.
  • Director of Staff Development (DSD)/Instructor Certificate prior to start.
  • One (1) year verifiable experience as a licensed nurse providing care to chronically ill or elderly patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility, home care, hospice care, or other long‑term care. Must meet CDPH Aide and Technical Certification Program (ATCS) and Training Program Review Unit (TPRU) approval guidelines.

Professional experience includes both work/occupational experience and teaching experience. Teaching and occupational experience may be combined to total the required number of full‑time years. Hiring committees review all complete, qualified application packets. Possession of the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an interview. A teaching demonstration may be required at the interview stage.

Conditions of Employment

Assignments may include Monday through Friday (day and evening) and Saturday classes.

Adjunct salary rate:
Starting at $88.30 per hour. (Link to Academic Adjunct Salary Schedule.)
