Position SummaryThe University is seeking a dynamic, multi‑faceted Academic Services Librarian to lead and assess our library and tutoring services. This role is central to our mission of academic success, focusing on instructional programming, research assistance, and digital content creation. The successful candidate will serve as a vital academic liaison to various university units, with a dedicated focus on the Casa Latina program possessing a professional proficiency in both English and Spanish.
This position blends traditional library science with emerging technologies, administrative oversight of tutoring services, and inter‑library loan management.
- Instruction & Research:
Design and deliver instructional programs via classroom visits, orientations, and 1:1 sessions. Provide expert research assistance using advanced databases and internet resources. - Academic Liaison:
Collaborate with faculty to embed library resources into online courses and serve as the primary liaison for the Casa Latina program and other assigned academic units. - Digital Innovation:
Create course‑specific online guides, videos, and modules while exploring emerging information technologies to enhance the student experience. - Service Oversight:
Provide administrative oversight for tutoring services and manage the university’s inter‑library loan service and library purchase orders. - Collection Development:
Review and recommend materials and online databases for acquisition to ensure a robust and relevant collection. - Assessment:
Develop methodologies to evaluate user experience and the effectiveness of digital resources.
- Education:
Master’s degree from an ALA‑accredited program. - Bilingual Proficiency:
Professionally proficient in both Spanish and English (written and oral). Candidates must be able to communicate effectively and transcend diverse audiences in both languages. - Experience:
2–4 years of professional library experience, preferably within an academic setting. - Technical
Skills:
Demonstrated proficiency with contemporary information technologies, Microsoft Office, and computerized data systems. - Subject Knowledge:
Strong understanding of the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education. - Collaboration:
Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience or background in Health Professions, Business, or Technology.
- Experience in digital content creation (online guides/video modules).
- This is an offsite position requiring a high degree of self‑motivation and a strong work ethic.
- Must have reliable transportation for occasional travel between campuses.
- Ability to work an irregular schedule, including evenings or Saturdays as needed during peak academic times.
- Must pass a pre‑employment background investigation.
