Overview
The Research in Education and Learning Lab is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to support ongoing projects related to learning and motivation in educational contexts.
This is a remote position.
Research Assistants will contribute to a range of tasks, including data collection, transcription, coding, data processing, and preliminary data analysis. They may also assist with the preparation of grants and manuscripts for publication. Extensive training will be provided, and the ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and a collaborative attitude.
This position requires approximately 10–15 hours per week
, with flexible scheduling and the ability to work remotely.
- Collect data through structured sessions, interviews, or classroom-based observations.
- Establish rapport with participants, including children and educators, and ensure adherence to study protocols.
- Accurately transcribe and code collected data using project guidelines.
- Conduct preliminary data cleaning and descriptive analyses.
- Assist with literature reviews, manuscript preparation, and grant writing tasks as needed.
- Record and manage data using secure systems, maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Attend team meetings (virtual and in-person) to coordinate with other lab members.
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Compensation range: $16-$25 per hour

Minimum RequirementsEducation:
High School diploma or equivalent required
Experience:
4+ years of relevant experience which may include student experience. May accept an equivalent combination of experience, education, or certification in lieu of experience.
Licensure:
None.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or higher
Experience:
Strong preference will be given to applicants with prior experience and training in REAL Lab procedures, measures, and data collection protocols.
This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. Also requires keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures requiring finer finger manipulation.
