Keewaytinook Okimakanak Board of Education (KOBE) supports secondary students that attend urban private and public high schools. The Student Circle of Care Coordinator is part of the Mental Health Services Team and is required to perform a range of duties under the supervision of the Mental Health Leader and the Senior Manager, Student and Academic Support Services to support the success of the KOBE secondary students throughout their education journey.
Salary: $48,000 – $81,468
Qualifications- Diploma in a related field such as Social Work (required)
- Degree in Social Work (preferred)
- Experience in school and counselling environments
- Experience in trauma/crisis response
- Strong time management, multitasking, and organizational skills
- Strong documentation skills and ability to compile reports using computer programs
- Understanding of First Nation education and health delivery models, history, and traditions
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, including with multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to speak a local KO dialect (asset) – Cree, Oji-Cree, Ojibwe
- Plan, set up, and implement the Student Circle of Care Program
- Develop program policies and procedures
- Create a student support package for students returning home during the school year
- Develop and implement a self-care training module for students returning home
- Maintain ongoing contact with students as they move residences to support wellbeing needs
- Work closely with Student Services staff, partners, and specialized services/KO multi-disciplinary team
- Provide timely reporting to supervisors/senior management
- Track and record service gaps and successes to improve the initiative
- Travel to KO communities and all school locations to meet/support students and staff
- Complete other related duties as assigned
- Valid Class G driver’s licence and driver’s abstract
- Vulnerable Sector Check
- First Aid Certificate
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including beyond regular hours as needed
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
This is a 6 month term position with possibility of extension.
