Reports To:

Principal and/or Assistant Principal

Exempt

Summary:

Provides supplemental instructional services to identified at-risk students to increase their capacity to benefit from the instructional program and meet state academic standards. Funded with State Categorical Education funds, this role involves providing supplemental instruction that is in addition to regular education programs. 100% of the duty day must be spent on allowable services for at-risk students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides supplemental instruction using district-adopted, evidence-based strategies and resources tailored to at-risk students.
  • Uses student performance data to design instructional services that accelerate learning for at-risk students.
  • Collaborates with teachers and administrators to ensure challenging and meaningful instructional programs.
  • Participates in coordinating and implementing interventions for at-risk students.
  • Establishes communication with administrators, staff, and teachers.
  • Develops and implements plans for supplemental curriculum aligned with campus and district goals.
  • Modifies instructional plans and materials to meet student needs.
  • Presents subject matter in accordance with TEA guidelines and district policies.
  • Employs diverse instructional techniques and media.
  • Communicates regularly with parents/guardians about student progress.
  • Plans and implements supplemental programs aligned with the Campus Improvement Plan.
  • Participates in professional development activities.
  • Monitors equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Supervises educational aides and volunteers.
  • Maintains punctual attendance.
  • Keeps current with subject matter knowledge and learning theories.
  • Encourages student enthusiasm and good study habits.
  • Provides progress reports as required.
  • Models positive behavior supporting school and district missions.
  • Creates a conducive learning environment.
  • Develops classroom behavior and discipline rules.
  • Takes precautions to ensure safety.
  • Assists in selecting instructional materials.
  • Communicates effectively with students, parents, staff, and community.
  • Maintains professional relationships and adheres to ethical standards.
  • Utilizes technology and audiovisual aids.
  • Prepares and administers tests, records results.
  • Teaches rules of conduct and social skills.
  • Counsels students and refers to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintains attendance records and addresses attendance issues.
  • Contacts parents regarding absences.
  • Maintains classroom order and discipline.
  • Adheres to dress and grooming standards.
  • Notifies supervisor of absences and prepares lesson plans for substitutes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Remote Instruction Only:

    Provides virtual instruction, develops lesson plans, and maintains communication with students and parents. Creates a positive virtual learning environment and supports student growth.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    May supervise aides and volunteers, including training, assigning work, and resolving issues.

    Qualifications:

    Education and Experience:

    Bachelor's degree;
    Texas teaching certificate.

    Skills:
    • Ability to interpret professional and governmental documents.
    • Effective communication skills.
    • Mathematical proficiency relevant to the teaching level.
    • Problem-solving and reasoning abilities.
    Physical Demands & Environment:

    Requires physical activity including sitting, standing, and lifting. Work may involve travel and exposure to outside weather conditions. Work is primarily inside, with some travel for school functions.

    Remote Work Environment:

    Uses personal computer, phone, and instructional equipment. Requires prolonged sitting, repetitive computer work, and maintaining emotional control under stress.
