Job Summary
The EdRedesign Lab at Harvard Graduate School of Education is focused on talent development, actionable research, and our Institute for Success Planning. Our mission is to ensure the social, emotional, physical, and academic development and well-being of all children and youth, especially those affected by racism, poverty, and disinvestment.
Job-Specific Responsibilities Writing and Editing for EdRedesign's Signature Publications and Curricular Materials- Write, edit, and produce signature actionable research, strategic communications, and curricular materials, primarily teaching cases, spotlights, educator/teaching guides, briefs and related materials. Additionally, op-eds and commentaries, white papers, blog/online posts, and other written products that align with EdRedesign's strategic priorities.
- Conduct relevant desk and field research to inform the development of EdRedesign written materials, including reviewing publicly available materials, sourcing and analyzing internal organization documents, and conducting interviews with protagonists, practitioners, leaders, and other sources. All research must be appropriately sourced, cited, and attributed.
- Work with EdRedesign's senior leadership, research, and communications departments along with national and community partners to produce signature written materials.
- Work with EdRedesign’s communications team to develop written companion pieces for multimedia projects focused on movement building, narrative, and breakthrough storytelling.
- Contribute to the ideation of different curricular material formats for EdRedesign’s target audiences, including students, practitioners, and policymakers.
- Contribute to the development of EdRedesign's new editorial process for signature publications and curricular materials.
This position works for a combination of on-campus and remote work based on business needs and manager approval. The opportunity for 100% remote work is available. All remote work must be performed within a state in which Harvard is registered to do business (CA, CT, GA, IL, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, VA, VT and WA). Candidates residing in other states are also encouraged to apply, though they would become employees of a third-party external payroll company rather than Harvard University.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- A minimum of 5+ years of related experience
- Experience with case writing and the production of curricular materials
- Candidates selected for an interview will be required to submit a writing sample

- Master's degree or equivalent preferred
- Commitment to EdRedesign's mission, vision, and values
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with the Harvard case method and case writing focused on social impact
- Experience writing and editing in a range of formats, including educator/teaching guides, briefs, op-eds and commentaries, white papers, blog/online posts, and case studies.
