Job Description: The Department of Design welcomes applications for adjunct teaching online for our Design Thinking certificate and MFA program. Positioned may be needed a variety of areas related to Human Centered Design, Design Thinking, Empathy, Design Thinking Studios, Environment Design, Design Management, Story Telling, Collaboration, Research Methods, Instructional Design, etc.
Adjunct Faculty positions supplement the faculty of a department wherever additional faculty are needed. Adjunct faculty hold, as defined by their letter of appointment, without eligibility for tenure; where authorized by the Dean, adjunct appointments may be renewed. Adjunct appointments do not guarantee course assignments.
Specific responsibilities of adjunct faculty are given in their letter of appointment. The specific starting and expiration dates for appointments are noted in their letter of appointment.
Primary responsibilities include teaching in the area of the candidate’s specialization. Adjunct faculty shall be evaluated in every course, including summer sessions.
Required QualificationsAll faculty must have at least a Master's degree in the field/discipline in which they are teaching, with 18 hours of coursework related to the course(s) being taught. In some cases, subject to the approval by the Provost, a faculty member could be recommended for appointment based on the substitution of experience for the degree.
Preferred Qualifications- Prior experience teaching.
- Prior design industry experience and or licensing and certifications.
Applicants must submit an unofficial copy of their transcripts of post-secondary courses with the application. If the applicant’s official transcripts are on file in the Office of the Provost, a statement indicating such, must be submitted in lieu of the documents with the application. Please note that the Office of the Provost only has access to transcripts from previous faculty employment and those are only retained for 5 years after initial departure from Radford University.
Official transcripts of all post-secondary coursework will be required upon selection for hire.
