Lead group facilitation at $150/hour; 1:1 coaching at $110/hour; preparation and follow-up at $50/hour. Opportunities to increase earning potential through the Facilitation Certification Program. Hours are not guaranteed.
The Facilitator/Coach is an individual contributor contractor responsible for facilitating professional learning and providing instructional coaching for educators and school leaders.
Responsibilities include:
- Designing and delivering professional development sessions, incorporating participant feedback
- Providing tailored 1:1 coaching and group learning experiences in-person and virtually
- Building collaborative relationships to strengthen instructional capacity and improve student outcomes
- Supporting data collection, reporting, and reflection to measure impact
Travel may be required; facilitation can be virtual or in person. When travel is needed, it will follow Teaching Lab’s travel policies. After engagements, you will participate in reflective debriefs to strengthen practice and impact. Maintain discretion and professionalism in all engagements.
Essential Qualifications- Deep experience coaching educators in grades K–12 special education
- Experience with HMH Into Reading and/or Into Literature curricula
- At least 2 years of experience as an instructional coach with demonstrated impact on student learning
- Experience across diverse classroom settings and instructional levels
- Strong background in instructional best practices and ability to support varied educators and learners
- Experience designing professional development materials or serving as an instructional designer
- Experience facilitating professional learning and coaching in both virtual and in-person settings
- Experience building relationships with diverse stakeholders in an education context
- Ability to empower teachers through trusting relationships and support shifts in practice and mindset
- Growth mindset for adults and students; commitment to improving instructional practices and team capabilities
- Ability to design and deliver high-quality, evidence-based professional learning
- Compelling communication and facilitation skills to engage diverse educators
- Strong organizational skills to manage projects, priorities, and timelines
- Knowledge of the New York City Public Schools landscape
Coaches and facilitators deliver high-quality professional learning experiences. There is no guaranteed hourly commitment; hours depend on projects and availability. Roles are project-based and flexible with advance notice for opportunities. You will collaborate with project teams to tailor content for partners and ensure sessions are impactful.
Facilitation may be virtual or in-person; travel logistics are supported by Teaching Lab. After each engagement, you will participate in reflective debriefs. You will apply Teaching Lab’s Facilitation Competencies to enable transformative learning for educators and partners.
Contractors may handle confidential information; discretion is essential. Contractors are not eligible for benefits, retirement, or leave.
TravelOn-site with some remote work. Candidates must be able to travel to New York, NY with two weeks’ notice.
