Duty Free Teacher Assistant (Grades: K-5)

Dallas Independent School District invites applications for the Duty Free Teacher Assistant (Grades: K-5) role. The position assists in conducting an intensified learning experience for students in assigned area and relieves the teacher of various non‑instructional duties.

• Assist in conducting intensified learning experience for students in assigned area and relieve the teacher of various non‑instructional duties.
• Assist the teacher in managing student arrival and departure time.
• Perform supportive tasks for a certified teacher that are primarily non‑instructional in nature.
• Assist teacher and students in achieving the objectives of the program or activities.
• Maintain discipline in the absence of the teacher.
• Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow up learning activity.
• Assist in filing, organizing materials for distribution and recording information.
• Assist in maintaining student records, attendance and files.
• Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
• Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.

• Accredited Senior High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency), plus one of the following:
  Associate degree, 48 college credit hours or passage of an academic assessment.
• Paraprofessional certificate required from State Board of Certification.
• Proficient in basic communication techniques and language.
• Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, parents and the general public.
• Demonstrated initiative and willingness to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Must possess good writing skills and be able to communicate effectively with students, parents and employees.
• Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
• Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job. A remote working environment or alternate work arrangement is not an option for campus‑based employees because regular and punctual attendance at the worksite and performing all duties there are essential job duties for all campus‑based personnel. The schedule is full‑time.

Minimum Salary: $26,744.00 Median Salary: $33,441.00
