Education and Outreach Manager – Virginia Literacy Partnerships
Join the University of Virginia as an Education and Outreach Manager for Virginia Literacy Partnerships (VLP). This full‑time, exempt 40‑hour work week position is based in Virginia but may work remotely.
Responsibilities- Assist senior team members in creating professional development materials and webinars for Pre‑K to 8th grade students.
- Support literacy coaches in mastering professional development resources.
- Help teachers, schools, and school divisions gather, interpret, and use assessment data to improve instruction.
- Co‑coordinate multiple tasks of varying complexity with accountability and attention to detail.
- Collaborate with senior team members to identify, define, and prioritize challenges faced by literacy coaches in the field.
- Contribute to research and development activities.
- Travel regularly to schools in Virginia to provide professional development support and attend regional trainings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree or equivalent mastery in the relevant specialty.
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Degree in Reading/Literacy, Education, or related field.
- Knowledge of science‑based reading acquisition and evidence‑based practices.
- At least five years of experience in an early education environment (Pre‑K–3, 4–8).
- Bilingual speaking and writing proficiency in English/Spanish.
- Reading Specialist endorsement or equivalent certificate.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and access.
- Experience coaching or training adult educators and leaders.
- Strong desire to learn new skills and improve practices.
- Experience managing a team producing high‑level work for multiple stakeholders.
Primarily sedentary; involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasional travel for meetings and program attendance.
Salary RangeFull‑time position with an anticipated range of $75,000–$80,000 (40 hours/week), commensurate with education and experience, includes UVA benefits.
Exemption StatusExempt‑level, benefited position.
Funding DetailsThis restricted position is a 12‑month appointment; continuation depends on project need, funding, and performance.
Work ArrangementThis position is fully remote and may be performed outside of Charlottesville, VA, in alignment with UVA’s remote work guidelines.
