Plus is a 501(c)3 nonprofit based in Virginia, founded in March 2020, aiming to make high-quality English education accessible to all. Since 2020, Connect Plus has recruited 500+ tutors worldwide and taught 600+ students with 10,000+ hours of English instruction.

HSE is Connect Plus' English-tutoring branch. HSE provides verification of volunteer hours, volunteer certificates, and recommendations. Volunteering experiences with HSE can be listed on resumes for college or job applications. Connect Plus is dedicated to making English-learning opportunities available for everyone, including people with special needs. The TBB (Tangbaobao) Program is specifically designed for children with Down’s Syndrome.

Program Setting

Tutors will give students one-on-one classes on Tencent Meeting. Each class lasts 45 minutes. Class discussions will be based on HSE’s TBB Class Materials. After class, tutors will send the student a comment and a vocabulary list.

• Are native/proficient/advanced English speakers;
• Are native/proficient/advanced Chinese speakers;
• (If in China) have VPN and access to Google;
• Are able to maintain a minimum weekly commitment of one 45-minute lesson and 15 minutes for preparation and after-class feedback.

• Experience in English teaching (formal and informal);
• Any degrees in an English or education-related field;
• High school student or older.

For reference only: CEFR B2+; TOEFL 80+; IELTS 6+.

Once you are paired with your student, you will only be working with that TBB student. Connect Plus provides a volunteer certificate when needed or upon leaving the program. Volunteering experiences at Connect Plus can be listed on college applications or resumes for other purposes.
