San Diego, CA and Albuquerque, NM.

Teaching

Responsibilities
  • Teach synchronous online courses via Microsoft Teams.
  • Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning and engagement.
  • Modify instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs.
  • Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter.
  • Maintain current certifications in subjects taught.
  • Lead applicable certification test‑preparation sessions once a term.
  • Provide regular student support sessions when needed.
Curriculum Development
  • Update course shells, master templates, syllabi, exam banks, discussion questions, assignments, and assessments.
  • Contribute to the selection and development of instructional materials aligned with course objectives.
  • Maintain currency of curriculum, syllabi, and textbooks.
  • Review training materials and provide recommendations on accuracy and relevance.
Mastery of Subject Matter
  • Demonstrate thorough, accurate knowledge of the field or discipline.
  • Connect subject matter with related fields.
  • Stay current through professional development, participation in professional organizations, and attendance at meetings, conferences, or workshops.
Adhering to College Policies and Procedures
  • Ensure Student Database is fully updated and accurate regarding student grade record information.
  • Maintain compliance with accreditation and CIAT policies regarding instructional quality and scheduled class hours.
  • Promote collaboration with staff and participate in new projects and ideas.
  • Adhere to CIAT business‑casual attire; refer to the Employee Handbook for policy details.
Requirements
  • Current CompTIA A+ certification (220‑1201 and 220‑1202). Other relevant credentials, licenses, or certifications accepted.
  • Information Technology instructors must provide official transcripts of a bachelor’s or higher degree and active/current certification in the subject taught.
  • At least three years’ experience in the respective field OR two years of teaching experience.
  • Advanced subject matter expertise preferred, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Synchronous online teaching experience preferred.
  • Curriculum development experience preferred.
  • Effective presentation skills.
  • Effective communication and technology skills.
  • High level of flexibility, creativity, and dependability.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office and learning technologies such as Canvas.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to multitask and solve problems rapidly and effectively.
  • Ability to work an assigned schedule as needed for coverage.
  • Sense of urgency and collaborative spirit with coworkers across departments.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment that respects diversity.
  • Knowledge of current trends, best practices, and didactic approaches in higher education.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging lesson plans meeting diverse needs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full‑time position. Days and hours are usually Monday through Saturday, including evenings. Working on Sundays may also be required.
