Speech and Language Therapist (Online)

We are seeking a qualified and HCPC registered Speech & Language Therapist to join our growing online therapeutic provision in partnership with our Great Minds Therapy Services offer.

You will be a creative and innovative Speech & Language Therapist who builds self‑confidence and communication skills of highly vulnerable young people through specialist online therapy practice, collaborating with TCES educational and pastoral staff to deliver therapeutic education, bespoke interventions and learning opportunities for neurodiverse pupils with complex needs.

TCES National Online School (NOS), the first – and only Department for Education accredited online special school
, is a growing service provider across the UK, engaging with young learners virtually. These young people have lengthy gaps from formal education for a variety of reasons, with the majority displaying Emotional Based School Avoidance (EBSA).

This is a very exciting time in the development of the online school, recently nominated for several industry leading awards, including TES and NASEN Specialist Provision of the Year.

TCES is an independent social enterprise, providing specialist therapeutic education based in London supporting exceptional neurodiverse children and young people aged 7 to 19 who have special educational needs and disabilities typically associated with autism, social emotional and mental health needs and associated disorders. Most of them have experienced multiple placement breakdowns and significant trauma, often resulting in behaviour that challenges.

On average pupils will have been excluded from other provisions up to three times before reaching us and had significant periods out of education.

TCES pupils learn at one of our two main schools, at our Nurture Primary school, through our Create in the Community service or within our National Online School; our Create services support our most complex and vulnerable pupils, with highly differentiated and personalised holistic therapeutic education programmes developed for each pupil focusing on development milestones. When they are ready, we aim for pupils to step down from Create into one of our main school, our Sixth Form, or into mainstream provisions.

Essential

requirements to be successful in the role are:
  • A champion of therapeutic support and advocate for young people, with similar values:

  • Resilient and robust, role modelling outstanding professionalism.
  • Hold HCPC registration with a recognised Speech & Language Therapy degree qualification and further professional development accreditations.
  • Substantial demonstrable experience in successfully working with vulnerable young people, those with complex mental health needs and/or challenging behaviours.
  • The ability to plan and coordinate sessions online, proficient with communication and supporting speech progress for pupils through universal and intensive therapeutic offers.
  • Proficient digital skills, including a good understanding of IT systems and the ability to use them effectively as a member of an online school.
