Job title: Motor Vehicle Studies Instructor - Adel Beck Secure Children’s Home – Instructor Scale B
Salary: £27,663 - £37,875 plus Community Homes Allowance of £2,895 and Secure Unit Allowance of £3,020 per annum
Hours: 32.5 hours per week Mon-Fri

The role

As an Instructor of Motor Vehicle Studies, you will be expected to take responsibility to give instruction and learning in vocational training in your subject area/s within the Home’s Education facility, ensuring a high quality of training that meets with Education standards and requirements.

  • set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge students
  • promote good progress and outcomes by students
  • demonstrate good subject and vocational training curriculum knowledge
  • plan and deliver well-structured lessons
  • adapt delivery to respond to the strengths and needs of all students
  • make accurate and productive use of assessment
  • manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment
  • fulfil wider professional responsibilities inc. providing guidance and direction to support staff within education and contributing to the wider aspects of the centre’s practice.
We expect the following experience and qualifications
  • Level 4 or above Education and Training qualification
  • ability to plan and deliver high quality lessons that meet the individual needs of all our students
  • ability to provide high quality assessment and feedback that promotes student progress
  • understanding of child and adolescent development
  • understanding of restorative and trauma-informed practice
  • knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and child protection and safeguarding principles
  • experience of teaching in a residential childcare/education environment or of teaching in a SEND/SEMH provision
  • experience of supporting children or young people with complex and challenging behaviour to engage with education activities
