Job DescriptionTeach one course of ENG 303 Writing Fiction for 3 credit hours in the Spring 2026 semester in‑person on the SU campus. Start date for this position is 1/05/2026, with first day of class being 1/12/2026. The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined based on their per‑credit‑rate history within the hiring department. All course offerings are subject to funding availability and enrollment.
Current internal applicants will receive priority consideration.
- MFA in Creative Writing required, with prior teaching experience.
- Develop and/or update a class syllabus.
- Order the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
- Prepare lectures, projects, and other student assignments.
- Maintain regularly scheduled office hours of two hours per week.
- Present instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the class.
- Meet all designated class periods. If you are unable to meet with your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute. You must also notify the department chair or their designated contact of your absence and of your plan to cover the class.
- Work with the academic unit to maintain student learning outcomes.
- Submit completed final grades according to University regulations.
- Grade student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
- Provide departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
- Complete all other course‑related duties as outlined by your department’s policies for part‑time instructors.
