Pay Range $1,440 - $1,800 per credit hour
Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months’ salary unless otherwise specified.

Job DescriptionThe Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics at Syracuse University is seeking a Part-time Instructor to teach one 4-credit section(s) of Arabic II ( ARB 102) and/or Arabic IV ( ARB 202) in the spring 2026 semester, which begins on January 12, 2026 (appointment begins on January 5, 2026). Offer is contingent upon sufficient enrollment.
- Arabic II ( ARB 102); 4 credits
Continuing proficiency-based course, which develops communicative abilities in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in culturally authentic contexts. Activities are conducted in Arabic. - Arabic IV ( ARB 202); 4 credits
Continuing proficiency-based course, which further refines and expands linguistic skills in culturally authentic contexts. Incorporates reading, discussing, and analyzing texts as a basis for the expression and interpretation of meaning. Conducted in Arabic.
The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined based on their per credit rate history within the hiring department.

Qualifications- Master’s Degree required.
- Experience in university-level teaching preferred.

ResponsibilitiesIt is understood that teaching assignments may include:
- Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
- Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
- Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments. Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours of two hours per week. Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the class.
- Meeting all designated class periods. If you are unable to meet with your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute. You must also notify the department chair or their designated contact of your absence and of your plan to cover the class.
- Working with the academic unit to maintain student learning outcomes.
- Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
- Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner. Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
- Completing all other course related duties as outlined by your department’s policies for part-time instructors.
- Building a positive rapport with the students and faculty.
