Adjunct Faculty (Online) - Environmental Science
Spartanburg Methodist College invites applications for a part-time adjunct faculty position in Biology for our online program. The successful candidate will have experience teaching undergraduate courses in biology. The teaching responsibility will be BIOL 205 Environmental Science. Topics for this course include fundamental biological and ecological principles in a study of the interrelationship between humans and the environment, pollution, resource management, ethics, and policy decision‑making.
Classes for the 8‑week course begin March 6, 2026. Teaching contracts may be renewed on a semester‑by‑semester basis pending enrollment, instructor availability, and student success.
- Teach BIOL 205 Environmental Science to undergraduate students.
- Develop and deliver online course materials using a learning management system such as Blackboard, Canvas, or D2L.
- Assess student learning and provide timely feedback.
- Prepare course schedules, assignments, and exams.
- Maintain academic standards and ensure a positive learning environment.
- Hold a Ph.D. in a Biological Science or a master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in a related field.
- Have experience teaching online and undergraduate courses.
- Possess strong communication skills.
- Be familiar with course management systems such as Blackboard, Canvas, or D2L.
- Be committed to high‑quality instruction for first‑generation college students and familiar with active‑learning pedagogies.
