The Library and Information Service at Chatham House is over 100 years old and holds an internationally important collection and archive which draws scholars from around the world. Our main work is serving both staff and members of the Institute. The Library is staffed by The Library and Information Service Manager and the Librarian, with the emphasis on team working and delivering an accessible and user-friendly service.
The RoleWe're looking for a qualified librarian who enjoys working with people and systems to help deliver an accessible, user-friendly service to our staff and members.
What you’ll do- Administer and develop our Library Management System (currently Soutron) and resource discovery service (EBSCO Discovery).
- Catalogue print and online resources and manage the repository for the Institute’s publications.
- Provide user education, training and support for online resources.
- Staff the Enquiry Desk and answer enquiries using a range of resources.
- Build relationships with colleagues across the institute and external partners.
- Professional qualification in librarianship.
- Experience administering library management systems, discovery services and working with online resources.
- Excellent IT skills, including database searching and Excel.
- Working knowledge of cataloguing.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience answering enquiries using a range of resources.

Salary£33,000 - £37,000 per year (Dependent on experience).
ContractFull-time, Permanent.
LocationOn‑site based role with occasional opportunities to work from home. It will also be important for the person appointed to attend occasional out of hours events to represent the library.
