Job Description
The Clinical Course Mentor (CCM), Veterinarian works closely with the LMU - CVM Clinical Relations and Outreach (CRO) team. The Clinical Course Mentor is responsible for overseeing LMU - CVM students electronically, from a distance in the students year four clinical rotation. It is anticipated that, depending on student experience and case load, the CCM will spend on average 60-90 minutes per student per week overseeing clinical performance, learning, and professional development;
and will be responsible, on average, for 12 students per rotation. The Clinical Course Mentor will have input in shaping the LMU - CVM curriculum and the future of veterinary medical education.
- DVM / VMD degree or equivalent

Job Duties- Promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students, and to the community at large.
- Promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students.
- Maintain proper security for all University files and information and follow privacy procedures at all times.
- Maintain records and procedures for duties and responsibilities of position.
- Course instructor of record.
- Create course syllabus and submit to curriculum committee for approval.
- Support and strengthen student learning.
- Utilize distance learning tools to evaluate student learning through portfolio content evaluation.
- Coordinate virtual rounds in area of subject expertise.
- Provide oversight of course content delivery and student requirements – ensures adequacy of case load and case diversity at the clinical affiliate in order to meet course objectives.
- Set course expectations with students.
- Maintain regular electronic communication with student.

- Potentially participate in year four on‑campus summative assessment and review taken from course case logs and learning objectives.
- Respond to student and clinical affiliate feedback regarding course issues and forward concerns to the Clinical Relations and Outreach office.
- Assure clinical site supervisors/preceptors receive current syllabus.
- Communicate with other course directors, Associate Dean for Clinical Relations and Outreach regularly to assess and improve the student learning experience.
- Communicate immediately unsatisfactory progress of students to Associate Dean for Clinical Relations and Outreach.
- May participate in clinical site training.
- Coordinate through the CRO team timely feedback to clinical site preceptor regarding student evaluation of sites.
- Provide input to Associate Dean for Clinical Relations and Outreach regarding clinical sites.
- Work to continuously improve student learning experience through refinement of oversight and the use of technology.
- Work closely with clinical affiliates, preceptors, hub liaisons, and Clinical Relations Veterinarians to ensure course content delivery.
- Work toward LMU - CVM's attainment and maintenance of COE accreditation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
