DescriptionInstructional Designer, Contract—hybrid location Livermore, CA. Responsible for designing and developing instructor‑led, web‑based, and on‑the‑job training for apprenticeships in the utilities industry.

- Primary designer and developer for instructor‑led, web‑based, and on‑the‑job training.
- Leverage instructional design methodologies to assess stakeholder needs, analyze complex content, and evaluate delivered training.
- Develop learning materials including hands‑on practice activities, student guides, facilitator guides, scenarios, videos, assessments, simulations, and other media.
- Perform detailed task analysis for each job function, business process, or system.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to conceptualize training design and content.
- Define learning objectives and course structure aligned to stakeholder needs.
- Work under the direction of the Senior Instructional Designer to apply company standards, guidelines, and templates.
- Write clear and effective instructional text, audio, or video scripts.
- Lead milestone meetings with subject matter experts.
- Engage with subject matter experts for ongoing content review and validation.
- Receive and incorporate feedback.
- Self‑manage assigned tasks and deadlines.
- Proactively communicate issues and risks.
- 3+ years’ experience developing instructor‑led training and on‑the‑job tasks for technical skills.
- 3+ years of experience with Storyline, Question Mark, and Author‑It.
- Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies.
- Proven experience performing task analysis.
- Strong knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver against multiple competing deadlines.
- Experience developing technical training for adult learners.
- P Academy experience is a plus.
A portfolio or work samples must be provided for consideration.
Desired Skills- Technical writing experience.
- Utility industry experience.
- Must be located in the Bay Area near Livermore, CA.
- Work Monday‑Friday, no more than 40 hours per week.
- Hybrid: remote work with monthly/quarterly travel to P locations; overnight stays may be necessary.
