Salary: $51,774.00 - $99,673.00/annually, DOE
Schedule: 30 Hours per Week, 9 Months
Job SummaryThis position is scheduled to begin August 2026. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced faculty member to lead and instruct in our Fire Science program, serving as both a full‑time instructor and the Program Director for the college’s Fire Science Program and the Phoenix Fire Academy. The faculty member will deliver instruction in fire services, fire behavior, fire safety, fire apparatus, fire command, tactics and strategies, ventilation, hydraulics, ladder operations, extrication, wildland firefighting, technical rescue, hazardous materials, and fitness and conditioning.
Additionally, the role will collaborate with the EMT and Paramedic departments and serve as Program Director for supervision, oversight, program expansion, course development, accreditation maintenance, and partnership development.
- Supervise and instruct a diverse student population across classroom, lab, clinical, field, online, hybrid, and alternative settings.
- Develop instructional materials, curricula, course content, syllabi, assessment tools, and maintain accreditation standards.
- Hire, supervise, and evaluate adjunct faculty, skills instructors, and staff.
- Maintain student support through office hours, tutoring, advising, and experiential learning opportunities.
- Establish and strengthen relationships with industry, community partners, and educational institutions.
- Engage in professional development, conferences, and institutional initiatives; demonstrate intercultural competence.
- Five years occupational experience in the field OR Three years occupational experience with a Bachelor’s degree OR Master’s degree or higher.
- Master’s degree or higher earned from an accredited institution.
- Recent experience teaching Fire Science, EMT, or paramedicine courses.
- AHA instructor certifications (CPR/BLS, ACLS, PALS).
AHA CPR/BLS, ACLS, PALS preferred. - NAEMT instructor certifications (PHTLS, AMLS, TECC).
- Recent experience as a firefighter paramedic.
- Current Fire Instructor I and Fire Instructor II certifications.
- Valid Arizona Class D Driver’s License required.
- Travel and work at all MCCCD locations, clinical sites, and field internships; possible remote work.
- May require evenings/weekends, frequent travel, shift work, and off‑term assignments.
- Must maintain National Registry of EMTs certification as a Paramedic or accept an equivalent; must comply with health and safety protocols.
- Work may involve physical demands up to 50 lbs and full turnout gear with SCBA.
