Learning Design Specialist

Responsibilities: Designing quality learning resources in alignment with the University’s vision, utilizing a consistent format with excellent writing, editing, integration of technology, and course design. The role collaborates closely with faculty, subject matter experts, librarians, and academic leadership to design and implement effective learning experiences that align with institutional standards, accreditation requirements, and student learning outcomes.

Requirements
  • A master's degree in Instructional Design or related field, or a post‑master’s certification in Instructional Design.
  • Three years of relevant course design experience in higher education, both traditional and online, in an LMS‑based system.
Preferred
  • A master's or terminal degree in Instructional Design, Technology, and Design.
  • Five years of relevant course design experience in higher education, both traditional and online.
Compensation

Compensation is determined by qualifications, experience, and circumstances of each hire. The salary range is $61,700 to $83,500. The package includes a tuition waiver, health insurance, paid time off, and a retirement savings plan with company match.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities Instructional Design & Course Development
  • Lead collaborative course design with faculty, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to develop high‑quality traditional and online courses aligned with university standards.
  • Develop and enhance instructional content by designing and integrating engaging materials, assessments, and technology tools.
  • Ensure quality, accessibility, and compliance by applying best practices to create academically rigorous, accessible content meeting accreditation standards.
  • Continuously improve courses.
Faculty & SME Support
  • Provide consultation and training to faculty and SMEs on course design strategies, learning technologies, and instructional best practices.
  • Lead virtual workshops, remote sessions, video trainings, and online self‑paced programs to build faculty capacity in course development.
  • Support faculty and academic leadership in aligning course content with learning outcomes and accreditation standards.
Project Management & Innovation
  • Lead and manage course development projects, overseeing initiatives and managing timelines.
  • Drive course improvements through data and feedback, using student outcome data and stakeholder feedback.
  • Integrate AI into instructional design, leveraging tools to enhance content development and personalize learning.
  • Promote ethical AI use by developing responsible assessment and assignment strategies.
Physical Requirements
  • Maintain a stationary position most of the time.
  • Available on a flexible schedule to work with faculty, SMEs, and vendors as needed.
  • Occasionally move around the work location and occasionally move, carry, or lift 10 pounds.
  • Operate office equipment such as computers, copiers, fax machines, and audio/visuals.
  • Use voice and hearing to communicate with students, staff, or colleagues face‑to‑face or over the telephone.
  • Visually assess and observe.
