The NAU Department of Psychological Sciences is a teaching and research-oriented department, currently with 30 full-time faculty. Our department oversees an undergraduate major with over 2000 students and a Masters degree program in Psychological Sciences, offers Bachelors and Master's degrees in Psychological Science and houses a PhD program in Interdisciplinary Health. Aboutthe Position
The Department of Psychological Sciences is seeking a Post-Master Teaching Fellow. The Post-Master Teaching Fellowship program is a one-year post-master's teaching fellowship in which up to 2 of our recent master's degree graduates will have the opportunity to teach full-time under the mentorship of a doctoral-level professor who is an expert in pedagogy. This fellowship is designed to be a unique and prestigious program that will enhance post-master's career readiness.
Only graduates from NAU's Master of Psychological Science program will be considered for this position.
Responsibilities Include80% - Teaching
- Teaching load will be 4 courses per semester (80%).
- Teaching 100- and 200-level undergraduate courses, face to face.
20% - Service
- Taking part in the PMTF mentorship program which may include dedicated mentoring time, preparing teaching materials and lesson plans, working on presentations or papers on the teaching of psychology, learning pedagogy and teaching methodology under the supervision of a PhD level faculty mentor.
- Recent Master's degree (last 2 years) from NAU's Master in Psychological Sciences.
- Interest in college or university level teaching experience.
- A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Qualifications.
- Experience as a Teaching Assistant.
- Completed the graduate level Teaching Practicum course (PSY
665).
- Understanding of teaching best-practices, including equity-based pedagogy.
- Interpersonal skills.
- Communication skills.
- Budgeted salary is $51,600. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.
Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check.
