Pay Range: $57,000 – $57,750 (11-month)

Hours:

Standard University business hours (8:30 am – 5:00 pm during the academic year; 8:00 am – 4:30 pm during summer). Hours may vary based on operational needs.

Job Description:

This is an 11‑month position, August 1 – June 30. The coordinator will assist in all aspects of academic support services for student‑athletes in assigned sports, including tutorial support, study table, academic monitoring, academic reporting, keeping coaches informed of academic progress, APR, eligibility concerns, academic advising, and orientations. The coordinator maintains knowledge of all NCAA rules and regulations related to academic support and eligibility.

Athletic teams are assigned based on department need, at‑risk nature of the student‑athletes, academic support requirements while traveling, and profile of incoming freshmen classes. The coordinator also collaborates to organize engagement programming for student‑athletes and guides them to engagement opportunities outside the classroom and field of play.

  • Strong working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Strong working knowledge of university academic policies and procedures is preferred.
  • Ability to manage, evaluate, and direct activities of various employees at varying levels.
  • Must be able to work extended hours, meet project deadlines, and work under time‑constraint pressures.
  • Excellent management and organizational skills and knowledge of computer software.
  • Strong familiarity with, understanding of, and practical experience with major issues concerning student‑athlete welfare and conduct, academic enhancement and performance, and the role of and relationship between intercollegiate athletics and higher education.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to successfully interact with diverse individuals from both the University and community related constituencies for maximizing University and departmental goals, objectives, relationships and representation.
  • Established history of quality relationships with staff, coaches, student‑athletes, parents, donors, and University faculty and staff preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency administering academic support and life skills programming to prepare student‑athletes for life after post‑secondary education is preferred.
