Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is seeking a full‑time Physics Faculty to begin teaching in August 2025. The position will teach introductory physics, general physics, and calculus‑based physics. Both day and evening instruction may be required. Instruction modality could involve in‑person, hybrid, or online formats.

Hiring Salary Range: $51,774 – $99,673 annually (DOE)
Full‑time, 30 hours per week, 9‑month calendar.

Job SummaryPhysics Faculty will provide effective physics instruction to meet the needs of a wide range of learners in both classroom and laboratory settings. The faculty member will be active in division and program projects, provide leadership to adjunct faculty, and incorporate instructional technologies and active learning techniques. The position is scheduled to start August 2026 but will commence teaching in August 2025.
EssentialFunctions
- Instruction:
Supervise and instruct students of various ages and diverse backgrounds меч aprendizaje in classroom, online, and/or lab settings. Use diverse teaching methods to promote critical thinking and problem‑solving. - Course Development:
Design and develop syllabi, curricula, and instructional materials; assess student comprehension through assignments, projects, quizzes, and exams. - Student Advisement:
Maintain office hours, advise students, participate in committees, and support students planning to major in STEM. - Committees:
Serve on college and/or district committees, collaborate with the Physics Instructional Council, contribute to curriculum reviews, and build external partnerships. - Professional Growth:
Engage in professional development opportunities, both internal and external, to maintain high standards of teaching and subject mastery. - Resources:
Assist in resource allocation, support technology integration, and guide lab technicians and studentизацию in equipment set‑up. - Student Success:
Lead efforts to build and maintain the Physics program, support recruitment initiatives, and facilitate outreach and internship opportunities.
- Graduate degree required.
- Master’s degree or higher in the teaching field OR Master’s degree or higher in any field with 18 graduate credit hours.
- Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Physics.
- Three (3) or more years of full‑time equivalent experience teaching physics at the college level.
- Experience working with diverse learners and instructional technologies.
- Experience teaching in person, live online, or hybrid modalities.
- Travel to campus during the interview/selection process at the candidate’s own expense.
- Required to travel to other MCCCD locations, work evenings and weekends, lift up to 25 lbs, and work with specialized physics equipment.
- Position requires a physical presence on campus with possible partial remote work.
