Description
The College of Emerging and Collaborative Studies (CECS) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) seeks a non‑tenure track faculty member to create and provide instruction in a fully online program for its Professional Advancement Through Hands (PATH) Learning Certificate and related offerings. This twelve‑month, one‑year appointment begins as soon as possible, with a target start no later than January 2026 and possible renewal.
LocationUTK, Knoxville, Tennessee. The position can be fully remote.
ResponsibilitiesThe selected candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in a fully online, asynchronous format, including industry application labs and research or internship courses as needed. Responsibilities also include supporting grant initiatives related to emerging technology education, developing curriculum, and providing service to the college as assigned by the Dean.
Qualifications- Ph.D. (or will hold at appointment) in mathematics, statistics, computer science, cybersecurity, engineering, or related applied technology field.
- Evidence of expertise in data science, applied artificial intelligence, and related fields.
- Higher‑education teaching experience required.
- Experience designing and delivering courses in face‑to‑face, synchronous online, asynchronous online, and hybrid formats.
- Experience with technology‑enhanced teaching and team‑based teaching practices.
- Strong commitment to excellence in teaching and service.
- Significant professional experience highly desirable.
- Teaching Assistant Professor – Ph.D. with promise of excellence in teaching.
- Teaching Associate Professor – Terminal degree with at least three years full‑time teaching experience.
- Teaching Professor (Full) – Terminal degree with sustained record of excellence and instructional leadership.
Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
