Overview

Somerset is an ambitious, friendly, and forward-thinking Educational Psychology Service. This is a genuinely exciting time to join us. Guided by our belief that Change is Possible, we are expanding our capacity and welcoming applications from Qualified Educational Psychologists, Trainee EPs in their 3rd year (qualifying Summer 2026), and Year 2 Trainee EPs (interviews Summer 2026 for Sept 2027 start, dependent on vacancies).

What will I be doing?

As part of a large, respected and growing team – including a Principal EP and Head of SEND Assessment and Review, 6 Senior EPs, 6 Locality teams of EPs, 4 Assistant EPs and multiple Trainees – your work will make a meaningful difference across the county. You will contribute to:

  • Traded work with schools, enabling early‑intervention and preventative psychology
  • Statutory assessments providing advice as part of the EHC Needs Assessments
  • Project work commissioned by the Local Authority
  • Contribution to multi‑agency partnership working with locality teams, health partners, and the Virtual School
  • Integrated Mental Health Offer — including Mental Health Support Teams, ELSA, and preventative inclusion work
  • Critical Incident support, Early Years work, and joint working with SEND practitioners
