Job Summary

Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick (DMNB) is a campus of Dalhousie’s Faculty of Medicine. The main administrative office is located on the UNB Campus in Saint John. Reporting to the Director of Student and Resident Affairs, the Student and Resident Affairs Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the design, implementation, and evaluation of activities and programs for the undergraduate and postgraduate programs of the Faculty of Medicine within New Brunswick.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the planning, organization and administrative delivery of annual curricular and special events and core curricular and ad hoc sessions with internal and external partners.
  • Responsible to support learners, assisting where appropriate, and triage learner issues to appropriate resources for professional counselling, physician assistance or other internal or external support services as required.
  • Act as resource person regarding academic and administrative policies and procedures. Resolve problems consulting relevant documentation and liaise with appropriate internal and external resources to obtain and provide information on diverse and complex issues.
  • Review processes and procedures recommending changes as required to deliver programming effectively and efficiently, and contribute to the design and implementation of quality assurance initiatives and policy and procedures to support the program objectives.
  • Responsible for the ongoing gathering, documentation, authorization and retention and sharing of confidential student records in accordance with established policies and procedures and deadlines.
  • Note

    The successful applicant will be required to work in-person on campus. Hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work from within New Brunswick) may be an option as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

    Additionally, some travel may be required, as well as evening and weekend work.

    Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in a related field, such as student affairs, medical education, office administration or office management (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Proven interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of the confidential nature of sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply principles and policies pertaining to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • Experience with supporting applications such as Microsoft Office.
  • Assets

  • Experience in course planning and/or event planning.
  • Knowledge of medical education programs and/or academic health care programs
