At Carlton Road, we aim to give every pupil the strongest possible start to their learning journey—from our nursery class through to Year 6. Our children come from a diverse range of cultural and social backgrounds, but we are united in our ambition that every child reaches their potential. Whatever their starting point, all our pupils embrace our motto: “Aim High and Dream Big.”
Our staff are committed to ensuring each child has the best possible opportunities to reach their potential, and our successful candidate will play a key role in making this a reality.
Are you passionate about delivering each child's entitlement to a high-quality education? Do you share our ethos of “Aspire to Achieve” and our Trust’s vision that every child is “educated in a good academy every day”? If so, you may be the person we are looking for to bring the following strengths to our team.
We are seeking a Teaching Assistant who:- Has the drive and vision to make a real difference to children’s outcomes
- Understands special educational needs and is eager to learn more
- Is fascinated by child development and how children learn
- Sees solutions rather than problems
- Can plan and deliver small-group learning (with training if required)
- Loves reading and can share stories in a way that excites children
- Models high-quality language and vocabulary, both spoken and written
- Understands behaviour as communication and works to meet underlying needs
- Smiles, shows patience, and goes the extra mile to make a difference
- Providing 1:1 or small-group support to help children achieve their learning goals
- Supporting play, social interactions and mealtimes
- Assisting with personal care and hygiene
- Encouraging engagement with a wide range of learning opportunities
- Working alongside the class teacher during group activities to guide individual pupils
- Leading (with appropriate training) small-group interventions such as Attention Autism “Bucket Time”
- Preparing the classroom and learning environments for activities
- Liaising with parents, when required
Our successful candidate will become part of our wider SEND support team and may work with several pupils throughout the day. This ensures a varied role and helps prevent children from developing over-reliance on a single adult. The successful applicant may also move with a class to support pupils as they transition at the end of the year.
