IN SHORT

Milton Keynes College are looking for a student-centred workplace trainer to compliment the existing team. Predominantly supporting our Electrical apprentices, experience in Electrical Installation would be an advantage but is not essential. This role will suit somebody who has experience and an interest in the development of young people. You will ideally have experience of providing advice, guidance and/or education to young people and/or adults.

As a Workplace Trainer, your role will be dynamic, varied and highly rewarding - working with employers, apprentices and the college curriculum teams. You will have some autonomy with your diary, with the expectation of certain days/times on campus delivering face to face lessons, appointments to be scheduled with employers at their workplace and some working from home also supported.

You will be carrying out progress reviews with the apprentice and employer, reviewing knowledge, skills and behaviours achieved so far, reflect on delivery that is coming next, work on personal development with the apprentice and set goals and SMART targets. This will predominantly be in a 1-1 setting at the apprentice’s place of work, on occasion delivery in the classroom on personal development may be required.

Being able to motivate and energise young people, discuss potentially sensitive topics, and support learner progression are all vital components of the role.

Workplace trainers are assigned a caseload of apprentices to train and assess throughout the evolution of their apprenticeship. Our apprentices’ journey runs all year round, therefore you are able to take your annual leave at any time of the year.

OUR BENEFITS
  • 30 days annual leave, 3 additional company closure days and UK Bank Holidays (entitlement will be pro-rated for part-time employees)
  • Professional development opportunities, including professional qualifications
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) accessible 24 hours per day, 365 days per year
  • A variety of amazing discounts with NUS Card and our reward and recognition platform Encore
