Job SummaryApplications are invited for the above temporary part‑time (40% FTE) post working in the School of Psychology and Sports Sciences. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative project between the School and British Isles DBT Training to deliver a national, NHS England funded, distance‑learning programme of PG Dip training in DBT. The post will provide outstanding opportunities to develop skills in teaching, supervising and delivering DBT alongside international experts.
It is suitable for an experienced DBT therapist interested in developing the next generation of clinicians, or a graduate of the PG Diploma in DBT keen to advance academic and clinical skills.
The incumbent will work closely with the Deputy Directors and Programme Director to deliver the programme, focusing on teaching, monitoring student progress, and assignment marking. Opportunities to maintain clinical work within a DBT programme will be encouraged.
Candidates must be an accredited DBT therapist with the Society of DBT in the UK and Ireland. Experience of teaching psychological therapy at an HEi level is a distinct advantage. The distance‑learning programme is delivered online, allowing for remote working.

Role and Responsibilities- Teach postgraduate modules in DBT, designing and delivering lectures, tutorials, and assessments.
- Develop teaching materials, course design, and coordinate modules.
- Provide pastoral and academic support to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Conduct administrative duties as designated by the Programme Director.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lectures and tutorials, responding effectively to diverse student backgrounds and learning styles.
- Motivate students for proactive engagement and provide constructive feedback.
- Stay current with new professional, educational, and related developments.
- Contribute to development of new programmes and module coordination.
- Maintain and develop scholarly activities in line with university strategy.
- Publish scholarly work related to learning and teaching.
- Participate in student recruitment and induction procedures.
- Contribute to school management and postgraduate programme administration.
- Support marketing initiatives for the programmes.
- Undertake other administrative duties as directed by the Programme Director.
- Participate in performance review and developmental activities.

- Continuously develop personal knowledge and skills to ensure teaching reflects best practice.
- Ensure health, safety, and wellbeing standards are met, and comply with legal and financial policies.
- Professional accreditation as a mental health professional.
- Accredited DBT therapist with the Society of DBT (SfDBT).
- Effective teaching capability in DBT and/or psychological therapy.
- Ability to develop innovative teaching approaches.
- Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrable IT skills for VLE techniques and other learning technologies.
- PGCertHE or similar; or recognised by the HEA as a Fellow / recognised by Advance HE as a Fellow against Descriptor 2 of the UKPSF.
- Experience of module development and delivery in higher education.
- Experience of supervising undergraduate and postgraduate projects.
