We are seeking a committed and proactive Learning Mentor to join our Inclusion Service on a temporary basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people who face barriers to education.
The post holder will promote positive educational outcomes and engagement, particularly for:
- Young people in Year 12 and 13 who are NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training)
- Children and young people with SEND
- Pupils with wider vulnerabilities
You will work closely with schools, colleges, families and internal teams to ensure learners are supported to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities- Work under the direction of the Inclusion Lead, managing and maintaining accurate information across corporate systems.
- Record, monitor and track pupil progress, attendance and engagement data.
- Work directly with teachers and educational settings to:
- Support transitions between settings
- Encourage good attendance
- Strengthen pupil engagement in learning
- Collaborate with locality teams and education providers to develop and deliver tailored intervention plans.
- Provide targeted academic, social and emotional support to pupils.
- Act as a decision-maker in specific contexts regarding the allocation of funding.
- Prepare pupils for successful learning in both mainstream and specialist environments.
- Ensure pupils are aware of available educational and vocational opportunities.
- Has experience working with children and young people, particularly those with SEND or vulnerabilities.
- Has a strong understanding of the challenges faced by NEET young people.
- Can build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, families and professionals.
- Is highly organised and confident in managing data and records.
- Is resilient, empathetic and motivated to improve educational outcomes.
- Has excellent communication and partnership-working skills.
