This is an exciting opportunity to work within the complex, challenging and rewarding world of SEND.

You will work within the Cannock district, alongside a well established and hard working team.

Staffordshire County Council is on a improvement journey to ensure that effective SEND support is received by the children that need it to the most.

  • You will have the opportunity to work from home, with some expectation to be office and community based.
  • Working hours are between 8.30am - 5pm (Monday-Thursday) and 8.30am - 4.30pm (Friday).
  • Weekend or evening working will not ordinarily be expected; however any additional hours worked will be given back by Time Owed In Lou.
Main Responsibilities

You will;

  • be supporting the SEND Locality Leads to carry out the Local Authority's SEND duties in relation to co-ordinating Education Health & Care (EHC) assessments.
  • producing EHC Plans and carrying out annual reviews.
  • work closely with our children and young people with special educational needs and disability and their families as well as a range of qualified professionals in education, health and social care.
  • develop collaborative and respectful relationships, promoting choice and independence and improve outcomes.
  • ensure that Education, Health and Care Plans comply with legal, regulatory, ethical and social requirements in addition to the policies, standards and procedures.
The Ideal Candidate

The statutory SEND service is fast paced and ever changing. The Local Authority is committed to delivering an effective service to children and families. You will be dynamic, responsive and organised. You will need to be able to manage your own caseload independently and as part of the team.

You will also:

  • Need excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have knowledge of the SEND legislation plus, it's important that you can reflect on practice and improve as a result.
