Position Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled, dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at Concordia Academy. The SEN Teaching Assistant role is vital to the school and involves supporting children with a variety of needs including Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP’s). We are particularly interested in speaking to individuals who have a background in Speech and Language, ADHD, SEMH and Autism.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs an integral member of the teaching team, you will provide direct support to students, assist teachers in delivering the curriculum, and use your initiative to enhance learning for children with SEN.
Required Qualifications and Experience- At least one year experience of working with SEND children in the primary age range
- Experience of working with children in a friendly, busy environment
- Understanding of children with SEN needs
- Level 2 qualification in play work or childcare
- Paediatric first aid qualification (desirable)
- Knowledge of child safeguarding procedures
- Sympathetic understanding of the emotional, social and intellectual needs of children with special educational needs
- Motivation to work with children with special educational needs and to inspire confidence in them
- Calm, patient and good listening skills
- Ability to build effective relationships with students, parents and staff
- Reliability, trustworthiness, discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to relate in a firm and friendly way with a wide range of personalities
- Initiative and willingness to take direction and guidance
- Understanding of behaviour management strategies
- Teamwork orientation
