Codeyoung aims to make coding accessible and enjoyable while building strong foundational skills for young learners.
Role Description This is a part-time, remote Online Coding Mentor role aligned with the UK shift and the working hours will be from 8:30 PM to 1:30 AM. The Online Coding Mentor will conduct live, interactive coding sessions for students aged 5 to 17, following Codeyoung's curriculum and learning objectives. Responsibilities include explaining coding concepts in simple, age-appropriate language, guiding students through projects, and providing real-time feedback and support.
The mentor will track student progress, share periodic updates with parents or guardians, and suggest personalized practice activities. The role also involves preparing for classes, resolving minor technical issues related to online sessions, and contributing feedback to improve teaching materials and lesson plans.
Qualifications
Proficiency in at least one beginner-friendly programming language (such as Scratch, Python, or JavaScript) and comfort with basic computer science concepts.
Experience teaching, mentoring, or tutoring children or teenagers in an online or classroom setting.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical ideas clearly and patiently to young learners.
Ability to create an engaging, inclusive, and supportive virtual classroom environment for students of diverse backgrounds.
Reliable internet connection, familiarity with online meeting tools, and readiness to work UK shift hours.
Organizational skills to plan lessons, manage time effectively during sessions, and document student progress.
Bachelor's degree (completed or in progress) in Computer Science, Engineering, Education, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
Prior experience with project-based learning, STEM education, or coding bootcamps for kids is an advantage.
