The Role:
Join No Limits, where every day is an adventure! You'll work term-time only (35 hours per week, 38 weeks per year) , Monday to Friday, 9 AM – 4 PM. Plus, you'll take part in up to three weeks of training and development during school holidays. This is a community-based role, where you'll deliver personalised education programs to post-16 learners with special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, and communication difficulties.
You'll support them in developing essential life skills such as:
Using public transport, ICT skills, Cooking and independent living. Money management. You may also accompany them to work experience or college. Harriet started using her communication device more regularly, such as ordering food at a café. No Limits introduced additional techniques to enhance her communication.
Harriet now attends college with Mac Intyre, where her confidence and engagement are steadily improving. Our team builds positive relationships, breaks down barriers, and boosts students self-esteem. About us Mac Intyre is a national charity which supports over 1,200 people with a learning disability and/or autism. We were founded in 1966 by the visionary parent of a child with disabilities and have been growing steadily ever since. We celebrate and develop everyone's unique gifts, talents and contributions. No Limits is our further education division, providing bespoke education programmes to children and young people for whom more traditional learning environments are not appropriate.
What we need from you Perhaps you've worked in special education, as a Learning Support Assistant or Teaching Assistant. Perhaps you've been a Support Worker in the social care sector. However, experience is not essential. For us, underlying ability and attitude are just as important as background and experience. If you have not worked in the field of education before then please don't be put off.
We can provide all of the specialist training you need, but we can't train you to be kind, to have initiative, to be friendly and patient; and those are essential qualities for this work. You must be a driver with your own transport , willing and able to travel across the area, supporting young people from their own homes. Reasonable mileage is reimbursed.
GCSEs (or equivalent) minimum C grade in English and Mathematics are essential. Training and Development At Macintyre we fully support your training and development. We know it can be daunting to start a new job, and not everyone learns the same way, so throughout your probation we will provide you with a mixture of eLearning, face-to-face training and mentoring support whilst on the job.
