Overview

We are seeking a Training & Delivery Consultant to support the successful adoption of operational improvements within a large-scale Defence and Maritime programme. This role is highly operational and requires a hands-on individual who is comfortable working closely with frontline teams, observing day-to-day activities, and driving behavioural change across the workforce.

Key Responsibilities
  • Spend significant time within operational and shop-floor environments to understand current processes, behaviours, and challenges.
  • Identify gaps between existing ways of working and the desired future-state operating model.
  • Build strong working relationships with frontline employees and junior stakeholders to encourage engagement and adoption of new practices.
  • Deliver coaching, training, and support to operational teams to facilitate change initiatives.
  • Gather structured observations and insights from the field and provide clear feedback to programme leadership.
  • Act as a key link between operational teams and the wider programme, ensuring solutions remain practical and aligned with real-world requirements.
  • Support change management and readiness activities to drive successful implementation of programme objectives.
  • Conduct one-to-one and small group sessions to reinforce new ways of working and address concerns.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience delivering training, coaching, or operational support within a shop-floor, manufacturing, engineering, defence, or operational environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with the ability to quickly establish credibility.
  • Excellent observation, analytical, and note-taking skills.
  • Ability to convert operational observations into concise and actionable reports.
  • Experience supporting organisational change, transformation, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills.
Security Clearance
  • Active SC Clearance preferred.
  • Candidates with BPSS clearance and an SC application in progress will also be considered.
Working Arrangement
  • 4 days per week onsite in Edinburgh.
  • Work from home on Fridays.
  • Immediate start preferred.
  • Contract until the end of August.
