Job Description & How to Apply Below
Not everyone who is good at computer science wants to teach it. And not everyone who teaches it wants to shape it. If you do, you’re exactly who we’re looking for.
We are the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) at Maastricht University, the youngest science faculty in the Netherlands. Since our founding in 2018, we’ve grown into a community of more than 3,800 students and 500 staff members, spread across four cities in Limburg. We are ambitious, committed to both our education and research and just a little bit rebellious.
What you do- Take responsibility for the day‑to‑day educational management of the Bachelor’s programme in Computer Science
- Lead the continuous development and improvement of the curriculum, and advise the Dean on its content and structure
- Oversee accreditation processes and both internal and external quality assurance
- Coordinate with department chairs on staffing and teaching assignments within the programme
- Develop and teach courses, skills and projects within the programme
- Supervise bachelor and master thesis students
- Collaborate regularly with the Programme Committee
- Collaborate with colleagues across FSE and beyond to create synergy between programmes
- Contribute to the further growth of education within the faculty
- Participate in team science on advanced computing sciences (education) for 30 % of your time
- A PhD in Computer Science or a related field
- An excellent track record, which reflects a strong commitment to science and engineering education
- Experience with academic educational management at the bachelor level
- An interest in and affinity with emerging technologies such as cybersecurity, IoT, quantum and cloud computing, extended reality, or AI technology is a plus. Research expertise in these areas is not required, but intellectual curiosity about where the field is heading is.
- An excellent command of the English language and the ability to flourish in an international setting and rapidly developing environment
- A 18‑month contract with a scope of 1.0 FTE and the prospect of a permanent contract based on mutual satisfaction
- A gross monthly salary between €6 512,00 and €8 673,00 (based on full‑time employment of 38 hours per week). 8 % holiday allowance and an 8.3 % year‑end bonus
- 29 vacation days (based on full‑time), four additional days off (Carnival Monday and Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day), and the possibility to accrue up to 12 extra days through compensation hours
- Flexible working hours, a home office allowance, and the option to work from home
- Freedom and space to shape your work independently and develop your ideas
- A close‑knit community of colleagues to collaborate and grow with
- A solid pension plan via ABP, company fitness schemes, and access to various university sports facilities
- An inspiring work environment in the heart of Europe
We look forward to getting to know you!
