SEND Learning Support Assistant - Home-Based 1:1 Support

Quantum Scholars is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Learning Support Assistant to provide personalised 1:1 support for a young learner in a home-based setting.

The pupil has Autism, a Visual Impairment, and English as an additional language. Having been out of formal education for a period of time, they require a patient and supportive individual who can help them re-engage with learning, build confidence, and develop the skills needed for a future transition into a specialist SEND school environment.

This role focuses on creating a positive and trusting relationship, encouraging communication, independence, and engagement through carefully adapted learning and life-skills activities.

Key Responsibilities

Delivering 1:1 support within the pupil's home during morning sessions
Supporting early English language acquisition, including speaking, listening, vocabulary development and simple literacy activities
Promoting life skills, independence and everyday communication
Helping establish positive routines and increasing readiness for future school placement
Tailoring activities to meet the needs of a learner with Autism and Visual Impairment
Providing consistent encouragement in a calm, nurturing and structured manner
Maintaining communication with Quantum Scholars and other professionals involved in the pupil's support

About You

We would like to hear from candidates who have:

Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
A good understanding of Autism and strategies that support communication, engagement and emotional wellbeing
Knowledge or experience of supporting learners with Visual Impairment (desirable but not essential)
Confidence supporting learners with English as an Additional Language (EAL) or basic ESOL development
A patient, adaptable and empathetic approach
The ability to work independently within a home-based learning environment
A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting positive outcomes for children and young people
