UCM is looking for at least one junior lecturer as of the academic year 2026/2027. We are looking for motivated lecturers who are committed to excellence in teaching. You will be primarily tutoring in UCM’s problem-based learning (PBL) tutorial groups.
Teaching allocation will be done according to the needs of the College and primarily in core courses and introductory skills training [i.e. Research Methods;
Introduction to Academic Skills;
Contemporary World History;
Political Philosophy;
Philosophy of Science;
Science, Reason and Human Progress and Liberal Arts and Sciences Education in the 21st Century]. In exceptional cases, junior lecturers may teach in concentration courses which are linked to their profile. For this reason, an academic background in one or multiple of the following fields is considered advantageous:
International Relations, Law, Politics, Psychology, and/or Neuroscience. Additionally, we expect you to play an active role in the UCM academic community, to support relevant extracurricular activities, and carry out day-to-day academic tasks, such as admissions interviews.

- A bachelor degree in Liberal Arts & Science (from UCM) is considered highly advantageous
- You should be committed to small-scale student-centred education and have an affinity with PBL
- The official language at University College Maastricht is English, therefore excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
At Maastricht University, you’ll work in an international, open, and engaged environment. We offer:
- A 12-month contract (0,8 – 1,0 fte).
- A gross monthly salary between €3546,00 and €5538,00 (based on full-time employment of 38 hours per week). 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus.
- 29 vacation days (based on full-time), four additional days off (Carnival Monday and Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day), and the possibility to accrue up to 12 extra days through compensation hours.
