Overview
We’re recruiting a Section 19 Lead Teacher to join Milton Keynes City Council and play a vital role in supporting children and young people who cannot attend school.
You’ll work within our Setting and School Inclusion Team, which supports every school and setting across Milton Keynes to secure high quality, inclusive Special Educational Needs and Disabilities provision at the earliest stages.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe team works closely with schools and professionals to ensure Ordinarily Available Provision is consistently embedded and effective for cohorts, classes, groups and individual pupils. You’ll have a key role in ensuring that the council meets its statutory duties under Section 19, supporting pupils who are unable to attend school due to physical or mental health needs.
This includes working with schools, families and multi‑agency partners to put education packages in place, monitoring their impact and making informed decisions about whether provision should be continued, extended or ended.
This is a rewarding role where your professional judgement and leadership will directly improve outcomes for children and families across the city.
Working ConditionsThis role may be suitable for home working, following an assessment. Home‑based roles require a minimum of one day per week working from the office or site.
Interviews for this role will be held on 10th July 2026.
