Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
Job IntroductionWe’re recruiting a Section 19 Lead Teacher to join Milton Keynes City Council and play a vital role in supporting children and young people who cannot attend school. You’ll work within our Setting and School Inclusion Team, which supports every school and setting across Milton Keynes to secure high quality, inclusive Special Educational Needs and Disabilities provision at the earliest stages.
The team works closely with schools and professionals to ensure Ordinarily Available Provision is consistently embedded and effective for cohorts, classes, groups and individual pupils. You’ll have a key role in ensuring that the council meets its statutory duties under Section 19, supporting pupils who are unable to attend school due to physical or mental health needs.
This includes working with schools, families and multi‑agency partners to put education packages in place, monitoring their impact and making informed decisions about whether provision should be continued, extended or ended. This is a rewarding role where your professional judgement and leadership will directly improve outcomes for children and families across the city.

- Support schools with planning and successful reintegration into education settings.
- Coordinate EHCP annual reviews and liaise with families, schools and professionals.
- Analyse data, monitor performance, and hold schools accountable to statutory duties.
- Provide advice and support, including safeguarding, partnership working, and responding to complaints or tribunals.
- At least three years’ experience working in an educational or related environment.
