Overview

We are recruiting for a Lecturer with excellent clinical and academic skills to teach across our BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy, pre‑registration MSc Occupational Therapy, and Apprenticeship programmes. These well‑established problem‑based learning (PBL) programmes rank highly for student satisfaction and graduate employment, and this role provides an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and creative team that embeds innovative teaching and simulation opportunities, focuses on enhancing the student experience, and shares in the co‑creation and delivery of these popular and respected programmes.

Responsibilities

Lecturers will deliver higher education teaching, employ problem‑based learning and simulation opportunities, act as personal tutors, provide pastoral care, supervise students, and contribute to the occupational therapy curriculum in a research‑informed manner.

Qualifications
  • Relevant degree in occupational therapy plus a postgraduate MSc, or a relevant first degree plus a pre‑registration MSc. Candidates with a post‑registration MSc nearing completion will be considered.
  • Current and active registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as an occupational therapist, or willingness to undertake this within the first 12 months.
  • A Higher Education teaching qualification and/or a HEA Fellowship is required, or willingness to undertake this within the first 12 months.
  • Recent professional activity as an experienced practitioner.
  • Up‑to‑date, sound knowledge of current developments in health and social care, including current clinical, professional and policy developments and the range of generic skills required to teach the subject.
  • Experience of implementing creative approaches to teaching and learning of contemporary topics in universities and/or clinical practice.
  • Understanding of academic standards and the range and level of knowledge and skills, both subject‑specific and generic, which the programme is intended to foster.
Desirable

Post‑graduate qualifications, an active research portfolio, and a Doctorate with the ability to supervise. Occupational therapy clinical experience in any area of practice enhances the applicant profile.
